Public Tour schedule November - December:  Go Wild! Take a walk with Around the Bend Nature
Tours and discover the flora, fauna, and history of Manatee County's natural habitats. You will find
that Florida's rich diversity continuously offers new wonders for us all.
  • Emerson Point Preserve: (Nov. 5th cancelled due to contract issues) Sun. Dec. 4th 9:30am - 11:30am Meet at the Temple
    Mound parking lot. This tour includes the largest remaining Native American Temple Mound on Tampa Bay, estuary. bay and
    coastal habitats, and the ways invasive plants are affecting this special area.
  • Rye Wilderness Preserve: (Nov. 12th cancelled due to contract issues) Sat. Dec. 10th 9:30am - 11:30am  Meet at the picnic
    pavilion. Discover the ancient history of the Florida Scrub plant community, and the more recent pioneer settlement as we visit the
    Rye Family Cemetery. Come prepared to ford the Rye Branch Creek (you will get your feet wet).
  • Duette Preserve: Sat. Nov. 26, Fri. Dec. 30th 9:30am - Noon. Meet at 8:30 am at Rye to carpool. This tour focuses on local
    "Vanishing Ecosystems" Florida Scrub and Dry Prairie. Duette Preserve is located 26 miles east of I-75.
Tours are free and open to the public, thanks to Manatee County Conservation Lands efforts; however reservations are
strongly encouraged.
