Cooking Activities

Pigs in a blanket- Need: hot dogs, crescent rolls/biscuits. Let each child quarter or half a hot dog
(depending on chosen bread) with a plastic knife. Encourage child to roll the hot dog into a roll or biscuit and
place onto their cooking sheet. Bake according to canned bread directions.

Haystack Cookies- Need: graham crackers, individual chocolate squares, marshmallows, chow mein
noodles. Let each child place a chocolate square, marshmallow, and chow mein noodles onto a graham
cracker. Microwave for 16 seconds. Yum!!

Pear Mouse- Need: Pear half, raisins, cherries, red string licorice. Let each child place a pear onto a small
plate. Put on raisins for eyes, cherry for nose, and licorice for tail.

Pink pig sickles- Need: 2 cups plain yogurt, 12 oz. unsweetened frozen cranberry-apple juice concentrate,
2 tsp. vanilla. Let child place all items in a blender, encourage child to press blender button, or switch if
necessary, and blend. Using a pouring cup, pour mixture into cups and add popsickle sticks for handles.
Freeze until set!

Cow Cookies- Need: Prepared cookie dough and chocolate chips. Buy the prepared cookie dough, then
let children add required ingredients (eggs, milk, etc;) Then let each child roll their dough into a ball, pound
to flatten, and press in cow spots. Cook according to package directions.

Chicken muffins- Use a muffin mix and prepare according to directions; pour into round muffin tins. When
cool, allow each child to place raisin eyes on for the chicken, fruit tape comb, and candy corn beak.

Little Red Hen's Bread- Find an easy to make bread that you feel comfortable with. Recreate this story by
asking who will help me make this bread? Who will help me mix these ingredients? Who will help me bake
it? Etc;

Popcorn Sheep
Need: Popcorn and glue
Directions: Draw a picture of a sheep. Pop popcorn in front of the children and have them glue it onto the
sheep.

Muddy Pigs
Need: Pink paper, shaving cream, brown paint
Directions: Copies a pig on to large pink construction, Then cut them out. Give each kid a small cup of
shaving cream, added a few drops of brown paint and they mixed it up. Then painted their pink pig with
'mud'. OR use chocolate pudding instead of the shaving cream and they eat the leftovers.  



Corn Cob Painting
Need: Paint, paper plates, manila paper, and a corncob
Directions: Put paint on paper plates. The children dip corncob in the paint and paint designs on the manila
paper.  Encourage children to use the side of the cob and roll designs. Let the children dip the top of the cob
in the paint and discover what designs they can make using only the top.



Thumbprint Animals
Need: Construction paper, pink paint, red paint, black paint, and markers
Directions: Have children put pink thumbprints on a piece of construction paper and make the prints into
pigs.  Use black paint for cows, red for roosters etc. Use a marker to add legs, beaks etc.



Farm Collage
Need: Magazines, construction paper, markers and crayons
Directions: Depending on the ages of the children, have them cut out pictures from magazines or have them
already cut out for them. Find pictures that would go with farms like barns, animals, etc. Have the children
glue the pictures they choose on a piece of construction paper to make a barn scene. Have them use
markers or crayons to add things they would like that there was not a picture for.

Piggy Puppets
Need: One Paper Plate, Pink Construction Paper, Paint, crayons, markers, glue.
Directions: Have children paint or color their paper plates pink. Cut 3 in. circle, Then cut in half. This will be
the ears. Also cut a two in. circle. This will be the nose. When the plate is dry (if you painted.) glue on the
ears and the nose.  Then add the remaining facial features.

Pig Nose
What You Need:
Yarn
Egg Carton
Black Marker
Paint
What You Do:
Cut the egg carton bottoms (the part the eggs sit in) into its twelve sections. Let the children paint it and put
the nostrils on it. Next attach string to both sides (staple or punch holes and tie) and your children have cute
pig noses.
