"We are into old fashioned fun. One year,
we had a party for my son  loaded with
games like pin the tail on the donkey,
musical chairs, and good old tag. The
morning of the party we had torrential
rains and the roads and streets were full
of puddles. Wouldn't you guess it, all
these 4 year old kids spent the whole
party soaking wet, laughing and jumping
and skidding into all the puddles and
flooded grass. We ended up throwing dry
clothes on the kids while I dried their wet
ones. It was the best party ever. You
should see the pictures

My favorite party was a beach party for my
son's fifth birthday. The invitations were
rolled up "message in a bottle" types that
were very cute. We got there early to get
shaded picnic tables at Manatee Public
Beach. I had lots of sand toys for the kids
and turned them loose on the beach to play.
Later we did sand art (no mess to clean up!)
and had a pinata.
We did the limbo and had beach-type music.
Snacks were goldfish crackers and tropical
fruit on umbrella-shaped kabobs -- and of
course birthday cake. The kids loved it and
the other parents all said it was the best party
they had been to in a long time. (So much
nicer than being trapped in Chuck E Cheese
with screaming kids!)

"
My best idea for my children's birthday
party is a good old fashioned simple party.
you can never go wrong. family ,friends,
food, and cake. what else does a child
need!!! simple, cheap and always a good
time. you do not always need the ponies,
balloons, and clowns. it is the day of their
birth!  CELEBRATE!!!!

Another cute party was -- a barnyard
theme at Hunsader Farms. There is a
shaded picnic area and a playground for
the kids. We had pony rides and food for
the petting zoo. This is a good party when
you have kids of different ages -- they can
all do their own thing. This year I'm
thinking of doing a cowboy theme at
Wishful Thinking Farms -- complete with
horseback riding, bonfire and smores.
We'll see!
